In an attempt to use the mountains of patterned paper I have amassed, I thought I'd use some of last season's Halloween Paper, so here ya go. I bought this cute pencil stamp about a week ago at my LSS (local stamp store) and looking at it reminded me of school and those #2 pencils that seemed to have magical powers because they were the only kind we were allowed to use. I've often wondered what was wrong with a #3 or #4 pencil, but no one could give me an answer. But that has nothing to do with this card, so on with the post.
This stamp is by Karen Lockhart and I'm so excited that she is coming to the St. Louis area in August. I was the first one to sign up for her class at Rock, Paper, Scissors. Can you say, excited? What a fabulous artist she is, and I'm sure she'll provide some great tips.
I stamped and heat set my focal image with Archival Ink, then colored with my Copic markers. Once I completed the image, I mounted it one two cardstock mats and placed it onto black that I ran through my Cuttlebug usihg an embossing folder. (See "Stuff I Used" below for a complete supply list) The patterned paper was mounted onto two layers of cardstock before mounting it onto a piece of cardstock that I ran through my crimper. I finished it off with jumbo eyelets and rhinestone brads.
I tied some fabulous Taylor Twill and some 1/8" black satin ribbon, because what card is complete without ribbon? I didn't really have a sentiment for this stamp, but the phrase, "Pencil me in" came to mind, which I generated on my laptop.. On the interior of the card it reads, "Let's Do Lunch"...a great way to invite a friend for a yummy get-together.
On another note: As some of you may know, there have been some changes on the Papertrey Design Team. If you haven't read Nichole's blog, check it out HERE. My own responsibilities with Papertrey have taken an interesting and exciting turn. I was very pleased when Nichole offered me the job of becoming the Papertrey Ink Newsletter editor. As you can imagine, Nichole wears many hats at Papertrey, and I personally don't know how she accomplishes all that she does, and raises a young family. I'm happy to have the opportunity to assist Nichole and the Papertrey team to bring some fresh and interesting changes to their weekly newsletter in the weeks to come...so stay tuned!
I'm so glad you looked in today. Check back again soon...more news on the way!

I love how you used the jumbo eyelet with the rhinestone brads. What a great idea! I have resisted buying those jumbos, but I LOVE that idea! Great card~
Very cute and fun card. Loving the color combos and the embellies!
Congrats on your new PTI position. :)
Congrats to you Lynn on the promotion! I'm so excited for you!
Love the card, the sentiment is just adorable!
Cute card!
When I was in school #2 pencils were the only one that the scantron test grader could read.
I like to use #4 in my crafting because of the lighter easier to erase line.
The # has to do with how hard the lead is. The higher the # the harder the lead, the harder the lead the less graphite tranfers to your surface when you mark.
And there's my usless trvia for the day. (sorry)
Cute card and interesting application. You come up with ways to use supplies/techniques that make me think "now why didn't I think of that?".
Congrats on your promotion at PTI -that is AWESOME!!!!
